Quartermaster

QuartermasterSafety on the water is an important issue. As part of this, the authorities have made it mandatory for all seagoing vessels measuring 245 metres and over in length to hand over control of the vessel to a helmsman as soon as the is approaching the lock. Vessels with a length of 245 meters and longer are obliged to use the lock approach warning system. This system is managed by Vebo Nautical Services on behalf of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management and will be brought on board on request.

Our quartermasters are experts who know the Westerschelde and the Ghent to Terneuzen Canal through and through. They will steer your vessel safely and efficiently through the Westerschelde, the locks and through the canal. This also means peace of mind for your crew as they can rely on our helmsmen’s expertise.
